Being located in America’s textile capital has many benefits. In a traditional manufacturing model for example, a T-shirt typically travels over 16,000 miles from start to finish. And now, I’m connected to ecosystems of like-minded crafts people and artisans who are equally committed to sustainability & quality over quantity within 30 miles of my home. I’m in the early stages of my journey but I have big dreams. In addition to how I design, I am as conscious about what I design. P.E. is elevated apparel that is closely tied to my heritage – the legacy of innovation in black and brown communities particularly through maritime, agricultural trades and craftsmanship is my brand narrative– I am a first generation American inspired by my roots across the African diaspora which I depict in the imagery and symbolism of my products.
